Shit Harper Did

Here's a great new site that chronicles all of the ways Stephen Harper has taken our money and essentially put it in front of a giant blowing fan. Some of the facts on here - and yes, facts, as in things documented fully and there to be used to throw mud directly at Harper's face - are astounding wastes of our money, mishandling of government programs, or utterly inane policy decisions. Here are some of my favourites:

The best way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions turns out to be reporting them incorrectly.

During a press conference regarding Canada's emissions trends, Environment Minister Kent claimed Canada is halfway to its 2020 target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. A closer look at his report revealed the progress was due to changes in the government's carbon accounting practices, not their climate policy.

Old Man Harper to Youth: Shut your yappers and go back to sharing internet memes or whatever.

Canadian youth are some of the loudest critics with regard to the government's climate change policy—or lack thereof. Rather than contend with our earnest concern and criticism, Harper brushes our commentary aside as "uninformed"—a conclusion based on our age.

Look, up in the air, it's a bird, it's a plane. No, it's just some asshole spending our money.

The NDP calls Defence Minister Peter McKay a "high-flyer" for a reason: since 2007, McKay has spent nearly $3 million on flights in the government Challenger jets.
I don't think these guys have any partisan affiliation, but even if they do I'm not sure I care. Great sense of humour and sourced examples of this government's stupidity - what more could you ask for?
