Former minister Kevin Aylward will lead the Newfoundland and Labrador Liberals into the next election (coming up this October) after he was chosen among 7 candidates to replace Yvonne Jones, who stepped down due to medical issues.
He's a former environment minister and has "concerns" over the Muskrat Falls project, which I have a feeling will please at least one blogger. Good wealth of experience and should prove an interesting match-up with current Premier Kathy Dunderdale and NDP Leader Lorraine Michaels.
However, his ascension does ruin the fact that Newfoundland and Labrador would've had a woman as Premier no matter what the results were in October. It's a shame, but it happens.
