Polling Since June 1978

Here's a fun look at the Canadian electorate's waffling since before Joe Clark was Prime Minister:

You can view raw data here. I only managed from 1978 to 2001, since they skip years after it.

The most interesting part of it all is at the very end, a few polls started giving the Progressive Conservatives higher scores than the Alliance. Hmm.

  1. Post 2001 a good place to look is here: http://www.pollingreport.ca/nslbs.php?dateToStart=2001-01-01&dateToEnd=2011-06-30&S_ID=-1&catID=2&max=60

Edit the dates in the address bar to focus in (or out) on certain dates.

No need to 'hmmm'. The answer to this is Stockwell Day. Remember this was around the time when a number of his own MPs lost confidence in him and sat with Clark's PC caucus. We almost had a unite-the-right moment there.

  4. Ah, right you are - still, pretty interesting to me. What if the PCs rode the infighting to Off Opp again?
