First Ad of Ontario 2011

And it's a doozy.

A minute long, this is one of the most positive ads I've ever heard yet. It's actually pretty damn awesome, when you get right down to it. It's got nice music, it's got pretty scenes, and it has Dalton McGuinty speaking with his made-for-voiceover voice about how awesome Ontario is, and a big fat Liberal logo at the end. The only thing I thought it was missing as a shot of McGuinty himself - despite the drawbacks, the man is still somewhat of an asset to the party. Even if he isn't, this ad is just so awesome to make him an asset to the party.

If the federal Liberals could rival something like this, we'd be laughing right now. But, alas, we weren't that lucky/smart.

Looks like its up to Dalton McGuinty to save the Liberal brand. We better work extra hard this October.

  1. Saw that last night. And yes, it is very good. And I am NOT a Lib.

  2. I know - my born-and-bred Tory parents thought the ad was astounding. It's quality, is what it is.

  3. Many of the themes from this were definitely taken from the Tim Pawlenty ads: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5i66q1f3M3w

But good on them, this is exactly the new type of messaging that we need to be doing. Harper stole one of Tim Pawlenty's ads even more blatantly when he ripped off of his "Courage to Stand" video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rEkFG5MNTk

  4. Spudster,

Oh, I know. But, they do work, don't they? HA!

Pawlenty may not end up President, but at least he was good for these ads.
