John Boich, 1933-2011

I was really saddened to hear about the passing of John Boich, the former President of the Burlington Provincial Liberals, and one of the most well-known civic advocates in the city.

John committed himself so much to making the City of Burlington work, known for his work on Shape Burlington, his constant presence at most (if not all) council meetings, always there with a question and an idea about how to make all of our lives better. He was truly there for all of us, and it's because of that John was honoured by the City of Burlington and Mayor Rick Goldring for all he's done. He is also likely to be named Citizen of the Year for 2011 - a truly fitting title for John.

And if you didn't know John from his municipal work, as I mentioned, he was president of our provincial riding association for more years than I can count. He was a strong Liberal with many ties to the party, and he has always been dedicated to Liberal values and causes. It is truly saddening to no longer have his voice fighting for better representation in Burlington.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication, John. We will all miss you terribly.
