Vaughan to be the first Conservative riding in the GTA!...?

This is something I've heard thrown around the CBC for a bit, most notably on their news segment on today's by-elections (post on that later). It's not exactly the smartest statement ever, given that of the 44 Greater Toronto Area ridings, the Conservatives hold 10 of them (Burlington, Durham, Halton, Mississauga-Erindale, Newmarket-Aurora, Oak Ridges-Markham, Oakville, Oshawa, Thornhill, Whitby-Oshawa). One, Thornhill, even holds part of the City of Vaughan proper!

So how could it be that Vaughan is the "first GTA riding" the Conservatives get a shot at? Honestly. Does no one do their research anymore? Peter Kent must be feeling pretty shunned at this point.

  1. You must have missed Jane Taber on QP stating this by election was Ignatieff's first test.

Apparently 0/4 in 11/09 did not count.
